CHAPTER 101.

Passed Feb'y.
14, 1844.

An act for the relief of Benjamin S. Ireland, Administra-
tor of Richard E. Ireland, late Sheriff and Collector of
Calvert county.

Authorised to
collect

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Benjamin S. Ireland administrator of
Richard E. Ireland, late sheriff and collector of Calvert
county be, and he is hereby authorized to collect all fees,
taxes and other claims due to the late Richard E. Ireland,
in virtue of his offices as sheriff and collector, and that
the said Benjamin S. Ireland, is hereby empowered to
make collection of all such dues in the same manner as the
said Richard E. Ireland would have been as sheriff or

collector as aforesaid.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Benjamin S.
Ireland before he proceeds to execute for any fees, taxes,
or other dues as aforesaid, shall present to each indebted
individual a bill of such claim or claims, and if such indi-
vidual or individuals, shall make oath or affirmation before
a justice of the peace of Calvert county, that he or she
hath paid or settled such demands with the late Richard
E. Ireland, or his deputies, then such oath or affirmation
shall be a full sett off to, and forever bar the collection of
such claim or claims.

In force until
1845.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue
and be in force until the first day of June, eighteen hun-
dred and forty-five.

 

CHAPTER 102.

Passed Feb.
15, 1844.

An act to authorize the Commissioners of Harford county to
levy a sum of money for the use of Thomas Magness, of
Harford county.

Preamble.

Whereas, it appears by the petition of Thomas Mag-
ness, of Harford county, that he is an old and infirm man,
and totally unable to obtain a support for himself by labor,
and said petition prays the passage of a law authorizing and
requiring the commissioners of Harford county to levy
and pay to the petitioner such sum of money as will be ne-
cessary to furnish him with the necessaries of life. —There-
