CHAP. 95.

Talbot county, whose duly it shall be to measure and inspect
all fire wood offered for sale in said town of St. Michaels,
in the same manner, and subject to the same rules and re-
gulations in every respect, as are now prescribed by law in
regard to the inspection of wood in the city of Baltimore,
and the wood-corder shall be entitled to demand and receive
six and a quarter cents for each cord of wood inspected by
him, from the seller thereof.

Oath.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That before the said corder
shall proceed to act as such, he shall take an oath faithfully
to perform his duty as colder for said town, to the best of
his skill and judgment, without favor, affection, partiality
or prejudice.

 

CHAPTER 95.

13, 1844.

An act for the extension and renewal of the charier of the
Farmers Bank of Maryland and Branches and for other
purposes.

Charter ex-
tended.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the charter of the Farmers Bank of Mary-
land and its branches, shall be and the same is hereby contin-
ued and extended to the first day of January, eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-five, and to the end of the next General As-
sembly thereafter.

Pay annually
to treasurer.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said bank and its
branches, shall annually on the first day of January, during
the continuance of the charter, pay to the treasurer of the
State of Maryland, the sum of twenty cents upon every
hundred dollars of their capital actually paid in, to be ap-
plied by the said treasurer in augmentation of the free school
fund of the State, in the manner the similar tax paid by the
incorporated banks in the city of Baltimore is now applied,
under a penalty of forfeiture of charter for failure of said
payment, for the space of six months after it shall have been
payable.

Renewed un-
til 1866.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the charter of the
Farmers Bank of Maryland and its Branches, if they com-
ply with the provisions and conditions of this act, shall be
renewed and continued until the year eighteen hundred and
fifty-five, and to the end of the session of the General
Assembly next thereafter, and if the said Farmers Bank of
Maryland and its Branches, agree to accept of the renewal
of the said charter upon the terms and conditions herein
contained, they are required to transmit to the execu-
