ted any part of the Pocomoke River, by cutting timber
therein, by hedging across, by wantonly allowing old vessels
to sink or otherwise, and shall allow the said obstructions
or any part thereof to remain for the space of seven days,
that they shall be subject to a fine not less than ten nor more
than forty dollars and one dollar for every succeeding day
the said obstructions shall remain, the one half of said fines
to be paid to the informer and the other half to be paid to
the commissioners of the Pocomoke River, to be by them
expended in clearing out said river.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all fines contemplated by
this act shall be collected as other small debts are collected
out of court.

CHAPTER 88.

 

An act to allow Henry L. Harrison, former sheriff of Cal-
vert county, further time to complete his collections.

Passed Feb.
12, 1844.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Henry L. Harrison, former sheriff of Cal-
vert county, be and he is hereby authorised to collect, until
the first day of May eighteen hundred and forty-five, all
fines, forfeitures, amercements, officers fees, or public dues,
which were placed in his hands for collection, and all legal
fees made by him while sheriff, and which Have not been
collected, in the same manner as he could or might have
done within the time limited by law.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Henry L. Harri-
son before he proceeds to execute the body or property of
any person or persons, for fees, forfeitures, amercements,
officers fees, or public dues, by the authority of this act,
shall deliver, or cause to be delivered, to such person or
persons chargeable with the same, or left at their house, at
thirty days previous to serving or levying such execution,
an account of the sum demanded of him, her or them, which
shall contain the specific items charged, with an affidavit
annexed thereto, that he hath not, nor hath any other per-
son or persons acting under him whilst sheriff, nor since
received any part thereof, or satisfaction for the same, to

person, against whom their is a claim by said Harrison, shall
make affidavit before any justice of the peace of said
county, that he or she believes the same to be unjust, or that
the same had been paid at any previous time, it shall for-
