FRANCIS THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

CHAP. 10.

berger, Francis M. Gramlick, Louis Renberg, William
Knost, John Flusschutz, George Leipfriet, Frederick End-
brich, John Sauerman, Henry Colemann, John Broner, Hen-
ry Fogtmen, Joseph Cramer and Henry Myer, and their
associates and successors, and all those who may hereafter
become members of the said association, be and they are
hereby created and made a body corporate, by the name
and style of the German Union Beneficial Society of Cum-
berland, and by that name shall have succession for thirty
years, and be capable in law to sue and be sued, to adopt
and have a corporate seal, to take, hold, sell and transfer
any estate real, personal or mixed, not exceeding in the
whole the value of five thousand dollars, at any one time,
and to adopt a constitution and make any by-laws, rules
and regulations for the government and perpetuation of the
said society, which are not contrary to the constitution and
laws of the State of Maryland, or of the United States.

Issue forbid.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be so construed as to authorize this corpora-
tion to issue any device, token, note, certificate or other
evidence of debt, to be used as a currency.

Right reser-
ved.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the right is
hereby expressly reserved to the General Assembly of
Maryland, at its pleasure, to alter or repeal this act of
incorporation.

 

CHAPTER 10.

Passed Jan.
9, 1844.

An act to make valid the official acts of Isaac Brower and
John B. Gilbert as Justices of the Peace for Frederick
county.

Made valid.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all and every official act made and done by Isaac
Brower and John B. Gilbert, or either of them, as Justices
of the Peace for Frederick county, shall in no manner be
affected by reason of the informality of their commission,
but that all the official acts and proceedings of either of
them shall be as valid and effectual to all intents and purpo-
ses as if the said Isaac Brower and John B. Gilbert, had
been lawfully and regularly commissioned.
