CHAPTER 11.

CHAP. 12.

An act to authorize Isaac C. Anderson, late Sheriff and
Collector of Taxes of Howard District of Anne Arun-
del county, to continue the collection of arrears of Tax-
es for eighteen hundred and forty-one, and eighteen hun-
dred and forty-two.

9, 1844.

Whereas, Isaac C. Anderson, late sheriff and collector
of taxes of Howard District of Anne Arundel county,
states that a considerable amount of arrears of taxes for
the years eighteen hundred and forty-one, and eighteen
hundred and forty-two, is still due, and uncollected, and
that for the purpose of saving the penalty of his bond, and
of closing his account with the treasurer, the said Isaac C.
Anderson, is willing to pay into the treasury the full

amount of said arrears of taxes; provided he is authorized
by law to continue the collection of the said arrears of tax
in the same manner, and with the same powers and privile-
ges, that are now allowed to collectors of tax in this
State: —Therefore,

Proviso.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall be lawful for the said Isaac C.
Anderson, and he is hereby authorized and empowered,
upon the payment into the treasury of the arrears of taxes
due and uncollected for the years eighteen hundred and for-
ty-one, and eighteen hundred and forty-two, and after
having first received a certificate from the treasurer, of
such payment, to collect any taxes or balance of taxes for said
years, now remaining due and uncollected by him in the
district aforesaid in the same manner, and with the same
powers and privileges, as if no such payment into the
treasury had been made and as are now allowed to collec-
tors of tax by the existing laws.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this law shall be in
force until the twentieth day of January eighteen hundred
and forty-five, and no longer.
