To inspect
said bridge.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
be and they are hereby required to inspect the said bridge
as soon as it is completed, and if they are satisfied that it is
constructed according to contract, then and in that case
they are authorised immediately to call on the collectors
for Anne Arundel county, for such sum, not exceeding the
sum aforementioned, as they may have agreed to pay for
building said bridge; and the said collectors are hereby
required to pay to the order of the said commissioners or
a majority of them, any sum not exceeding four hundred
dollars.

To sell old
bridge.
|
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the commissioners, at the time and place of contracting for
the building of said bridge, according to the second section
of this act, to sell the old bridge to the highest bidder for
cash, and to apply the proceeds of the sale to the payment
of the building of the new bridge.

An act to incorporate the Frederick Literary Association.

Preamble.
|
Whereas Dr. John W. Geyer, Dr. Jefferson Shields,
William L. Schley, Hiram Winchester, Grayson Eichel-
ber, Nathaniel Vernon, John Sifford, Joshua Peterkin, E.
Louis Lowe, John H. O'Neill, Jacob F. Kunkel, A. B.
Hanson and others, have united themselves under the name
and style of the Frederick Literary Association, for the
purpose of moral, intellectual and social improvement by
means of lectures, discussions, readings and the purchase
of a library. Therefore,

Incorporated.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Dr. John W. Geyer, Dr. Jefferson Shields,
Wm. L. Schley, Hiram Winchester, Grayson Eichelberger,
Nathaniel Vernon, John Sifford, Joshua Peterkin, E. Louis
Lowe, John H. O'Neill, Jacob F. Kunkel and A B. Han-
son, for the purposes aforesaid, their associates, successors
and assigns, be and they are hereby created a corporation
and body politic, by the name and style of the Frederick
Literary Association, and by that name shall have perpe-
tual succession, and shall be able and capable in law to sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be ans-
wered, in any court of law or equity, and to make and use
a common seal, and the same to change and alter at plea-
sure, and to ordain and establish such a constitution, by-laws
and regulations, not contrary to law as shall be necessary or
convenient for conducting the affairs of the corporation.
