been obtained against such aggressors, are unable to en-
force payment of the damages recovered—Therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That our senators and representatives in congress, be re-
quested to use their exertions to effect the passage of a law
by that body, making the rescue of any runaway slave
from the master or person authorized to apptehend the
same, a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment in
all cases where the party offending shall not be able to
remunerate the injured party in damages.
Be it further resolved, That His Excellency, the Gov-
ernor, is hereby requested to forward a copy of this pre-
amble and resolutions to our senators and representatives
in congress.

Resolution in favor of Mary Tyson and William Tyson.
Whereas it has been represented to this general as-
sembly, by the petition of William Tyson of Baltimore
county, and Mary Tyson, his wife, that in consequence
of their advanced age they are unable to support them-
selves and the said petitioners being also recommended
to the favorable consideration of the general assembly, by
a number of the taxable citizens of Baltimore county—
Therefore,
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commissioners of Baltimore county, be, and they are
hereby authorized and required, to levy upon the assessa-
ble property of Baltimore county annually, the sum of
twenty dollars each, for the use of the said William Ty-
son and Mary Tyson, his wife, respectively; and to cause
the same to be collected and paid to the said William and
Mary respectively, or their order, as the case may be,
semi-annually in the same manner that other out-pension-
ers are now paid by the trustees of the poor for Baltimore
city and county, any other law, custom or usage to the
contrary notwithstanding.
