shall be paid by said district; and the expenses of locating
and opening that part of said road in Carroll county, shall
be paid by that county, and the commissioners of said dis-
trict and county, are hereby requited on receiving from the
commissioners hereby appointed an account on oath, of the
said expenses including an allowance of two dollars per
day to the commissioners, for their services, to levy the
same on the assessable property of said district and county
respectively, to be collected as other public charges are.

CHAP. 203.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
by this act appointed or a majority of them, shall estimate
the damage that may be sustained by any persons over
whose lands said road may pass, and the damage so deter-
mined, shall be levied as other public charges are in said
district and county, and shall be paid by the district or
county respectively, in which such damages may be sustain-

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners,
before they proceed to act shall take an oath or affirmation
before some justice of the peace, that they will faithfully
discharge the duties required of them by this act.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall not go
into effect, until a majority of the commissioners of Carroll
county and Howard District, shall respectively issue their
order directing the opening said road.

CHAPTER 203.

An act for the relief of John S. Crockett, late sheriff and
collector of Somerset county.
|

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John S. Crockett, late sheriff and collector of Somerset
county, be and he is hereby authorised and empowered to
collect and receive all and any balance or amount of officers
fees, chancery taxes and fines, and forfeitures and county
taxes, which may be due to the said John S. Crockett,
as sheriff and collector aforesaid, in the same manner,
and with the same powers and privileges as are now
allowed by law, and in the same manner, and to the
same effect, as if the term of office of the said John S.

expired; provided, that if any person against whom there
is a claim by said John S. Crockett for officers fees, chan-
cery taxes, fines and forfeitures or county taxes as afore-
