CHAP. 192.

successors for the benefit, relief of the sick and "distress-
ed, the education of the orphans of its members, and for
the promotion of their purposes generally.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this corporation shall
not be permitted to issue any note token, device, or scrip,

To enure for

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall enure for thirty years from its passage, and that
the legislature reserves to itself the right to alter and an-
nul this act of incorporation at pleasure.

An act to incorporate the Pipe Creek Benevolent Society.

Incorporated.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Abraham Jones, Francis Jones, Doctor
Thomas Sim, Jesse Wright, Israel Norris, Robert Nelson,
R. S. Reese and all others who may become members of
the said society and their successors, be and they are
hereby created a corporation and body politic, by the
name, style and title of the Pipe Creek Benevolent Socie-
ty, and by that name shall be able and capable in law to
sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, defend and be
defended, answer and be answered in any court of law or
equity, and to make and use a common seal and the same
to alter and change at pleasure, and to ordain and estab-
lish such by-laws and regulations as may be necessary or

convenient for conducting the affairs of the corporation;
provided, the same be not contrary to the laws of this
State or of the United States.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall be capable in law to have, take, receive and hold
property real and personal, also devises and bequests of
any person or persons, and the same to dispose of at
