as soon thereafter, as the taxables shall assemble, and the
ballotting for trustees, clerk and collector, shall be contin-
ued until twelve o'clock thereafter, when the ballots shall
be counted, and the persons receiving the highest number
of votes, shall be declared elected, to fill the offices for
which they shall have been elected; and the clerk of the
district, as soon as conveniently may be thereafter, shall
transmit to the commissioners a copy of the proceedings of

such meeting. Provided however, that if from any cause
whatever, a meeting shall not be held in any district as
aforesaid, then and in such case a meeting shall be called by
the clerk in office, to be held after ten days notice as direc-
ted by the act, to provide for the public instruction of
youth in primary schools throughout this State.

Proviso.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the trustees of any
primary school district in said district, shall have full power
and authority, in their discretion to require from any child
attending school the payment of any sum of monies not ex-
ceeding fifty cents per month to be applied to defray the
expenses of the school, and in the exercise of this power
the trustees may from time to time increase or diminish the
sum so to be paid or discontinue the payment thereof alto-
gether, and may graduate the payments according to the
ability of the children, and the exigencies of the school.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That the trustees of any
school district, be and they are hereby authorised to receive
into their schools, children of any age under twenty-one
years.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That primary school dis-
trict numbered forty-five in Howard District, shall be enti-
tled to receive from the said commissioners the sum of two
hundred dollars annually, more than is allowed to any one
of the remaining primary school districts in Howard Dis-
trict, so long as a male and a female school shall be contin-
ued in said primary school district; and the aggregate
number of children regularly attending the said schools
shall exceed forty, and when either of said schools shall be
discontinued, or the aggregate number of children regularly
attending said schools, shall not exceed forty, then the said
primary school district shall be entitled to receive no more
than is allotted to any one of the remaining primary school
districts in Howard District.
