shall, by proclamation, published as required by the third
section of this law, at least thirty days before the time to
be appointed for election by said proclamation, appoint a
day for the election as aforesaid, of said representative or
representatives to Congress, on which day said election
shall be held to the same effect and in the same manner, as
at the regular election of members to Congress.

CHAP. 18.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent
with the provisions of this act, be and the same are hereby
repealed.

CHAPTER 17.

 

A supplement to an act entitled, "an act authorising gates
to be kept on the public roads in Talbot County, except
those roads that the United States mail passes over, '"
passed at December session eighteen hundred and forty-
two, chapter twenty-nine.

Passed Jan.
5, 1844.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the
authority and privilege granted and secured to the citizens
of Talbot county, (to keep gates on the public roads in said
county, ) by the act passed at December session eighteen
hundred and forty-two, chapter twenty-nine, and the several
provisions of said act, be and the same are hereby extended
to each and every person or persons having and owning
land in said county, who may not reside therein.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the gates now erected,
and being on the public road dividing the counties of Tal-
bot and Queen Anne's, which are hung and open on the
Talbot side of said road, shall be deemed and taken as
belonging to Talbot county, and shall be included within
the provisions of this act, and the act to which this is a
supplement.
