that the same may be stopped at any intermediate point at
the discretion of the said company, and that it shall be law-
ful to charge the same rates of toll for the transportation of
persons and property upon such road when constructed, as

are authorised by the first section. Provided, that the said
rail road be constructed so as to intersect with the exten-
sion of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road, or the Chesa-
peake and Ohio Canal, or the improved navigation of Wills
Creek by Canal or otherwise.

CHAPTER 173.

 

An act to allow William Sewell as trustee of Lewis N.
Sewell, further time to complete his collection, for the third
collection district of Anne Arundel county, for the year
eighteen hundred and forty, and further time to complete
his collection as trustee as aforesaid, for city and primary
school taxes for the city of Annapolis, for the year eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-nine, and also to allow said
Sewell as collector of the third collection district of said
county, further time to complete his collections for the
yean eighteen hundred and forty-one and forty-two.

27, 1844.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Sewell, trustee of Lewis N.
Sewell, deceased, former collector of county taxes for
Anne Arundel county, Maryland, for the third collection
district of said county, for the year eighteen hundred and
forty, and former collector for city and primary school
taxes for the city of Annapolis, in the State aforesaid, for
the year eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, and the said
William Sewell, as collector of the third collection district
of said county, for the year eighteen hundred and forty-
one and eighteen hundred and forty-two, be and he is here-
by authorised and empowered to collect any tax or balance
of taxes now remaining due and uncollected by him in said
collection district or in the city of Annapolis as aforesaid,
either as trustee as aforesaid or as collector aforesaid in the
game manner as he could or might have done within the
time limited by law.

Authorised to
collect.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said William
Sewell either as trustee or collector as aforesaid shall in
every instance before he shall proceed to the aforesaid col-
lection, make affidavit before some justice of the peace for
said county, that the same remains due and unpaid and that
