CHAP. 111.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if the parties contract-
ing for the erection or construction of any building shall
otherwise contract in writing, then said law, as to such par-
ties and such contract, shall be inoperative and to no effect.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the commissioners of Howard District to direct a copy of
said original act and this supplement, to be printed in such
newspapers as they may direct; the expense of which
shall be defrayed by said district, and for such lime as they
may think necessary.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That as soon as practicable,
after the passage of this act, it shall be the duty of the
clerks of the Senate and House of Delegates to transmit a
certified copy of the same to the commissioners of said
Howard District.

An. act for the benefit of David R. Miller of Washington
County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That David R. Miller, of Washington county, be and he
is hereby authorized and empowered to record in the office
of the clerk of Washington county, the name of a certain
negro slave, named Jeff, and that the recording of said slave
shall have as full force and effect in law, as if the same had
been done within the time required by the act of assembly,

nine, chapter fifteen; provided, the name of said slave shall
be recorded within thirty days after the passage of this act,
and provided n/so, that all the other provisions of said act
be fully complied with.
