also to have, make and use a common seal, and the same to
break, alter and renew at pleasure, and to assemble and
meet together at such times and places as they may agree
upon; and to ordain, establish and put in execution such
bye-laws, ordinances and regulations as to them shall seem
to be conducive to the interest of the said company and ne-
cessary to the good government and orderly management
thereof, and generally to do and execute all such acts, mat-
ters and things as to them shall or may appertain to do, the
same not being contrary to the laws of this State.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contain-
ed shall be so construed as to authorize or empower said
corporation to issue any note, token, certificate or other
evidence of debt to be used as a currency, and that nothing
contained shall be construed to deny to the Legislature the
right to repeal this law at pleasure.

An act to repair or re-build a Bridge over the North-west fork
of the Nanticoke River, at Federalsburg, between Dor-
chester and Caroline counties.

SECTIONS 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Eccleston Brown, Minas Adams and John
Rowing, of Dorchester county, and John Ellicott and
Charles Willis of E., of Caroline county, are hereby nomi-
nated, constituted and appointed commissioners to cause to
be re-built or repaired, the bridge over the north-west fork
of the Nanticoke river, at Federalsburg, on the divisional
line between the counties aforesaid, when in their judg-
ment and discretion the public safety shall actually require
it to be done, and the said commissioners, or a majority of
them, are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
contract with any person or persons in their discretion other
than themselves, or either of them, to repair said bridge if
deemed necessary; but if it become necessary and proper
to re-build said bridge, then it shall be the duty of the said
commissioners, or a majority of them, first to prepare a
contract with a penalty annexed of a sum of not less than
eight hundred dollars, and sufficiently secured for the per-
formance of the contract, setting forth the size and quality
of the materials to be used in the construction of said bridge,
and the manner the work shall be performed, then it shall
te the duty of the said commissioners publicly to advertise
