the contract for sale, the lowest bidder becoming the pur-
chaser of the said contract, the purchaser after having
complied with the condition of this act, shall proceed to
build said bridge in the manner stipulated in said contract.

CHAP. 79.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when the said bridge
shall be so repaired or re-built as provided in the first sec-
tion of this act, and received by the said commissioners,
then it shall be the duty of the said commissioners to re-
port the contract with the expenses incurred on account of
said bridge to the commissioners of the tax of Dorchester
county, and to the Levy Court of Caroline county respec-
tively, when it shall become the duly of the said com-
missioners of the tax of Dorchester county and the Levy
Court of Caroline county respectively, and they are hereby
authorized and empowered and directed at their first meet-
ing after the reception of the said report, to levy the amount
of expenses incurred in the repair or re-building of said
bridge as the case may be, and levy in addition, the sum of
two dollars per day for each day's actual services, render-
ed by the several commissioners heretofore named, as a

compensation for their services; provided always, the num-
ber of days shall not exceed five for each commissioner,
the one half on Dorchester county, and the other half on
Caroline county, to be paid over by the collectors of the
aforesaid counties by order of the commissioners of the tax
of Dorchester county and the Levy Court of Caroline coun-
ty, in discharge of the expenses incurred in the repair or re-
building of said bridge at Federalsburg as heretofore de-
signated, and in payment of the commissioners for their
services.

Proviso.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That in case a vacancy shall
occur in the board of commissioners created by this act, by
the death, resignation or removal of any one or more of the
parties heretofore named, then the remaining commissioners
shall have power, and they are hereby directed al their
first meeting after such vacancy shall happen, to proceed
and fill such vacancy by ballot or otherwise, provided never-
theless, the said commissioners shall, and they are hereby
directed, to select a person to fill said vacancy from the
county in which the late incumbent resided.
