CHAP. 271.

only child of Thomas Scott, late of said county de-
ceased, an alien, died seized and possessed of a small par-
cel of land in Baltimore county, which became escheat-
able to the State, because of his being an alien; and
whereas an escheat warrant was granted on the fifteenth
day of September eighteen hundred and forty-two, to Wil-
liam Scott, the grand father and guardian of the said Wil-
liam James Scott, the infant, and the land so escheated has
been surveyed and a certificate returned to the land office,
by which it appears the same contains the quantity of six
acres and twenty perches, and called Scott's security, which
certificate estimates the value of the lands, deducting one-
third for the discovery, at three hundred and thirty-three
dollars and thirty-three cents, as a balance due the State of
Maryland; and whereas it seemeth just and equitable that
an act should he passed for the relief and benefit of said
infant — therefore,

Right of the
state released.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the right, title and interest of the State of Maryland
of, in and to the lands of Thomas Scott, an alien, late of Bal-
timore county deceased, which have escheated to the State
of Maryland, or to the valuation of said land as returned
by the surveyor of Baltimore county, be released to the said

issue patent.

William James Scott, only child of the said Thomas Scott.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the register of the
land office be directed to issue a patent for the land go called
Scott's Security, containing six acres and twenty perches;

Proviso.

provided nevertheless, that no patent shall issue unless the
officers shall be paid.

An act for the benefit of the vestries of Prince George's,
and Saint Bartholomews Parishes in Montgomery
County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it has been represented to this General
Assembly, that the church property belonging to the
vestries of Prince George's and Saint Bartholomews
parishes in Montgomery county have been taxed by the
commissioners of Montgomery county, for several years
passed, contrary to an act of Assembly exempting such
property from taxation — therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
