moved over to the offices on the Western Shore, and depo-
sited therein, and for the expenses incurred in removing
said records and assorting the same, his excellency the
Governor, is hereby authorized to allow the said register of
the land office, such compensation therefor, as in his judg-
ment he may deem right and proper.

CHAP. 241.

CHAPTER 240.

 

An act to change the name of James G. Kell, of Saint Ma-
ry's county, to James G. Gilmore.

Passed March
6, 1343.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of James G. Kell, of Saint Mary's county,
be changed to James G. Gilmore, and that the same is
hereby recognized and declared to be the name by which
he shall be known at all times and in all places, and all his
legal acts heretofore done and executed shall be valid to all
intents and purposes, in the same manner as if he had re-
ceived the same name in baptism.

CHAPTER 241.

 

An act to incorporate the Seamen's Beneficial Society.

7, 1843.

WHEREAS George N. Hollins, George Pressman, Tho-
mas P. Dill, Clark Cottrell, George P. Fritzs and others,
have formed themselves into a society for the laudable pur-
pose of affording relief to each other, and their respective
families in the event of sickness, distress and death, and
have prayed for an act of incorporation that they may bet-
ter execute their benevolent intentions — therefore.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That George N. Hollins, George Pressman,
Thomas P. Dill, Clark Cottrell, George P. Fritzs and others,
who now are or hereafter become members of the said so-
ciety and their successors, are hereby declared to be one
community and body corporate, by the name, style and
title of The Seamen's Beneficial Society, and by that name
they shall be, and are hereby made able and capable in law
to receive contributions, and purchase and possess, enjoy
and retain to them and their successors, lands, tenements,
