CHAP. 239.

CHAPTER 238.

Passed March,
4, 1843.

An act relating to the levy of direct taxes in Baltimore coun-
ty, for the years eighteen hundred and forty-one and eigh-
teen hundred and forty-two.

Preamble.

WHEREAS the commissioners of tax of Baltimore coun-
ty in levying the State direct tax on said county for the year
eighteen hundred and forty one, levied at the same time the
additional tax of five cents in the one hundred dollars, as.
imposed by the act of eighteen hundred and forty -two,
chapter three hundred and twenty-eight, and as doubts are
entertained of the legality of the said last mentioned levy,
therefore,

Tax declared
valid.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,.
That the levy of the tax of five cents in the one hundred
dollars imposed by the act of eighteen hundred and forty-
two, chapter three hundred and twenty-eight, and levied
by the commissioners of the tax of Baltimore county, for
eighteen hundred and forty-one, instead of eighteen hun-
dred and forty-two, is hereby declared valid, and the com-
missioners aforesaid are hereby directed to credit the afore-
said five cents in the hundred dollars imposed by the act
aforesaid, upon the levy list for the tax for eighteen
hundred and forty-two.

 

CHAPTER 239.

Passed March
7, 1843.

An act to confirm an act entitled, An act to abolish certain
offices on the Eastern Shore of this State, passed Decem-
ber session eighteen hundred and forty-one, chapter two
hundred.

Ratified and
confirmed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the act passed at December session eighteen hundred
and forty-one, chapter two hundred, entitled, An act to
abolish certain offices on the Eastern Shore of this State, be
and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed; and where-
as in the original act provision is made for the removal of
the records and papers from the said offices on the Eastern
Shore, to the offices on the Western Shore — therefore,

Register to
have papers
packed.

Be it further enacted, That the register of the land
office for the Western Shore, be and he is hereby required
to have the records and papers belonging to said offices
mentioned in the original act carefully packed up, and re-
