An act to allow Jesse Scott, late Sheriff of Talbot county,
further time to complete his collections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Jesse Scott, late Sheriff of Talbot county, and his de-
puties, or any agent appointed by him, be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to collect and receive
all and every balance or amount of officer's fees, fines and
forfeitures, and all other sums that may be due and owing
to the said Scott as Sheriff as aforesaid, or to his deputies,
in the same manner, and to the same extent as if the term
of office of said Scott, as Sheriff as aforesaid had not expir-

ed; provided, that if any person against whom there is a
claim by said Scott as Sheriff as aforesaid, or either of his
deputies, shall make affidavit before a justice of the peace
of said county that the same has been paid at any previous
time to any person authorized to receive the same, it shall
prevent the said Scott and his deputies from collecting the
said claim, in the manner prescribed by law for collecting
such claims', and provided also, that nothing in this act con-
tained shall be construed to affect the estate of a deceased
person, except to authorize said Scott, or his deputies, to
receive any claim or balance due by a deceased person in
the same manner that claims against deceased persons are
now recovered by law, and provided also, that this act shall
continue in force for only one year from its passage.

CHAPTER 237.

An act to repeal the ninth and twelfth sections of the act of
seventeen hundred and fifteen, chapter forty-tight.
|

4, 1843.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the ninth and twelfth sections of the act of seventeen
hundred and fifteen, chapter forty-eight, be and the same
are hereby repealed.
