repairs of this road, that nothing contained in this act shall be
construed to authorise the Levy Court -of Prince George's
County, to levy the amount therefor upon the assessable
property of said county.

CHAP. 17.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said Commissioners
shall take an oath that they will faithfully execute the pro-
visions of this act, and be entitled to receive one dollar for
every day that they may attend in the execution of this
act, and shall give at least ten days notice to the pro-
prietors of the lands over which said road may pass before
they proceed to act.

CHAPTER 17.

 

A supplement to an act to incorporate the Western Bank of
Baltimore.

1843.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the
capital stock of the Western Bank of Baltimore, shall con-
sist of three hundred and eight thousand two hundred and
eighty dollars, and shall be divided into shares of twenty
dollars each.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the President and Di-
rectors of the said Bank, may as often as any money or
property may be recovered or received for or on account of
the debts, dues and demands, included in the estimate of
those losses by which the capital stock of the said Bank has
been reduced, cause a dividend thereof to be made among
the stockholders entitled to the same.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the affairs of the said
Bank shall hereafter be conducted by a President and twelve
Directors, a majority of whom shall constitute a quorum
for the transaction of business.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the President and
Directors shall have power to declare such dividend, not
exceeding three per cent of the nett profits of said Bank,
since the first of July eighteen hundred and forty two, as
they think proper, in lieu of any dividend that might have
been declared in December eighteen hundred and forty-two,
agreeably to the charter, had the capital stock of said bank
been whole.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That so much of the act en-
titled, an act to incorporate the Western Bank of Baltimore,
passed at December session eighteen hundred and thirty-
