CHAPTER 188.

CHAP. 188.

An act to regulate the expenses of Prince George's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act the jus-
tices of the Orphan's Court of Prince George's county,
shall be entitled to receive three dollars for each and every
day that each justice shall attend and act in his official ca-
pacity as justice of said court, and that the justices of the
Levy Court shall be entitled to receive two dollars for each
and every day that each justice shall attend and act in his
official capacity as justice of said court.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Levy Court of
said county are authorized and required at each and every
annual levy to defray the expenses of the county, to deduct
one fourth of the fees now allowed by law to the clerk of
the County Court, Register of Wills, Sheriff and Deputy
Attorney General, so that the said officers shall only re-
ceive three-fourths of the fees now allowed by law, for all
services rendered to, or charged against the county.

SEC. & And be it enacted, That the pay of jurors, in
and for Prince George's county, shall be one dollar for
each juror, for each and every day that said juror attends
court as such, agreeably to law, but that all those residing
more than six miles from the court shall receive ten cents
for every mile such jurors shall travel going to court, over

and above six miles; provided that no juror shall receive
more than one dollar for travelling to court, any one day,
and provided also, that whenever a jury is empannelled in
any case, and the jurors remain during the night in Marl-
borough, by order of the court, such jurors shall receive
one dollar in addition to the per diem of one dollar authorized
by this act, but no juror shall receive this extra allowance
of one dollar per day, and allowance for travelling at the
same time.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That bailiffs and criers of the
county court and courts of equity shall receive the same
pay and allowance for travelling which are allowed by this
act to jurors, and that no person shall receive payment for
more than one office, or employment about or in the service
of the court at one and in the same time.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That an act passed at the
last session of the legislature, chapter one hundred and
twenty, allowing the Register of Wills seventy-five dollars
per annum for keeping the books of the free-school fund,
be, and the same is hereby repealed.
