CHAPTER 103.                             chap. 103.

A supplement to an act entitled, an act to authorize a. Lot-
tery to raise a sum of money to construct a Turnpike
Road from Hagerstown, Washington County, through
Leitersburg, to the Pennsylvania State Line, near John
Kissell's farm, Pennsylvania, and for other purposes
therein mentioned.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners named in the act to
which this is a supplement, may sell for such sum or sums
of money as they may deem proper, the scheme or schemes
authorized by said original act, if in (heir judgment such sale
would be best calculated to promote the object for which
said original act was intended, and the purchaser or pur-
chasers thereof, and. their assigns, shall have and enjoy all
the rights and privileges in the disposal of the tickets in said
scheme, and the raising money therefrom, as are by said
original act conferred on the commissioners therein men-
tioned.

Sec. 2. And be it evaded, That before such purchaser
or purchasers shall avail themselves of such scheme or
schemes, he, she or they shall give, their bond to the State
of Maryland, for forty thousand dollars, with security to be
approved by any judge of Washington county court, said

completion of the said drawing of said lottery, pay to the
treasurer of the western shore of Maryland, five per cent
on the sum raised, and will well and truly apply so much of
the money arising From the sale of tickets in said scheme or
schemes, if in six months after the drawing, as will satisfy

the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn by them.
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That before any such sale, the
said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall enter into
bond to the State of Maryland, in the penalty of thirty thou-
sand dollars, with security to be approved and recorded as
aforesaid, conditioned that they will faithfully cause the
amount of such sale or sales, to be applied to the making of
a turnpike road from Hagerstown, through Leitersburg, to

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the bonds, required to
be given by the second and third sections of this act, may be
sued upon in the name of the State of Maryland, by any
