part of the fund for his own benefit, or levy an allowance to
be paid out of said fund; provided, the same shall not ex-
ceed one per cent on the amount received by him in any
one year.

CHAP. 80.
Proviso.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners for
Montgomery county, shall deposite with the treasurer, all
monies received for the support of schools, and the said
treasurer shall keep a book in which he shall make particu-
lar entries of all monies received and paid by him, which
shall be open at all times to the inspection of said commis-
sioners and managers of schools.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the commissioners for
Montgomery county, shall on the first Monday in April next,
or as soon thereafter as practicable, and annually afterwards,
appoint three competent citizens in each election district, as

managers of schools in said district, and in case of vacancy
in said board of managers, the commissioners shall have
power to fill the same at any of their meetings, and each of
the said managers before he enters upon the duties of his of-
fice, and within fifteen days after the notification of his ap-
pointment, shall take and subscribe the following oath, be-

fore some justice of the peace of said county, viz: I do
solemnly and sincerely swear or affirm, (as the case may be, )
that I will in all things, to the best of my knowledge and
ability, well and truly execute the trust reposed in me, as
manager of schools for Montgomery county, which oath
shall be filed in the office of the commissioners of the coun-
ty-

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be law-
ful for the managers of schools in any or cither of the elec-
tion districts in said county, at their pleasure to lay oft' said
election district, into suitable school districts, and file a cer-
tificate (numbering and designating the same) in the office
of the commissioners of said county, then, and in that case,
it shall be lawful for the managers of schools in said district,
to use the money arising from the school fund, to which their
district is entitled, to aid in the payment of teachers, or

same be divided proportionably to the number of children
in each school district, between the ages of seven and eigh-
teen years; which said dividend shall be for the use of the
school district, to which it is assigned and for no other use
whatever; and provided further, that their orders drawn for
the same, or any part thereof, shall be signed by all the
managers in said district.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the said school mana-
gers of the several election districts, shall meet in general
meeting at Rockville, on the last Monday in July, in each
