the public, a report of their proceedings, and of the condi-
tion of the institution, together with a catalogue of dupli-
cates in its possession, to be sent to similar institutions else-
where, so as to promote the interchange of objects of inter-
est, to the mutual benefit of both parties.

CHAP. 78.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That there shall be annually
appointed, as other officers are appointed by the State, three
persons, who shall act as visitors of said corporation, who
shall have access at all times to its records, who shall be
entitled to be present at the meetings of the board of direc-
tors, and who shall whenever called upon on behalf of the

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That said corporation is
hereby prohibited from issuing any note, certificate, device,

or evidence of debt, to be used as currency, and that the
right is hereby expressly reserved to the General Assembly
of Maryland, to repeal this act at its pleasure.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That this act shall endure
for thirty years from the date of its passage, if not sooner
repealed by the General Assembly.

CHAPTER 78.

 

An act to authorize the employment of additional Collectors
in Saint Mary's and Worcester Counties.

7, 1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the commissioners of the tax for Saint Mary's
and Worcester counties, are hereby authorized to appoint
a collector of the county taxes for each district in Saint
Mary's and Worcester counties; provided, they shall
be of opinion that such change in the mode of collecting
the county taxes, would conduce to greater public interest
and convenience; and provided also, that the entire expense
of collection shall not exceed the sum now levied for such
object.

Sec 2. And be it enacted, That all laws or ports of laws
inconsistent herewith, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. And be further enacted, That the collectors to

with security approved by the said commissioners of the
tax, in such penalty as they may require, conditioned for
the faithful performance of the duties of said office.
