FRANCIS THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1841.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the clerk of Prince
George's county court, be and he is hereby authorized and
required to receive and record the bond referred to in the
preceding section; provided, the same be in all respects in
conformity with the provisions of the existing law upon the
subject of sheriffs bonds, and the provisions of this act.

CHAPTER 66.

 

An act supplementary to the act passed at December session
eighteen hundred and thirty-six, chapter two hundred and
fifty, entitled, an act to grant to the Commissioners of
Chestertown a certain lot of ground therein mentioned.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Chestertown in Kent
county, or a majority of them, are hereby authorized and
empowered to sell the lot of ground mentioned in the act to
which this is a supplement, and apply the proceeds of sale
to the general improvement of said town.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners or
a majority of them, are hereby fully authorized and empow-
ered to convey the said lot of ground to the purchasers, and
his, her or their heirs, by a deed to be duly executed and

CHAPTER 67.

 

An act for the relief of Frisby Tilghman of Washington
County.

Passed Jan.
17, 1842.

Whereas, it is represented to this General Assembly,
that a certain Frisby Tilghman of Washington county,
brought into this State from the State of Virginia, some
time in the month of March last, two negro slaves, to wit:
Bazil Pembroke and Nelly his wife, who are slaves for life,
and who were acquired by the said Tilghman by purchase;
and whereas, the said Frisby Tilghman is desirous of retain-
ing said slaves in this State—therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said Frisby Tilghman, be and he is hereby au-
thorized to retain said negroes as slaves for life within this
State; provided, that the said Frisby Tilghman shall within
thirty days after the passage of this act, file with, the clerk
