them approved, conditioned for the faithful performance of
all the duties required of him either by the laws of this
State or the ordinances of the said town, which bond shall
be recorded in the office of the clerk of Talbot county
court, and suit may be instituted upon a copy thereof, as in
the case of bonds of other public officers.

An act for the benefit of James Chaney, alias James W.
Chaney, of the City of Baltimore.

1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for James Cha-
ney, alias James W. Chaney, and he is hereby authorized
to withdraw the plea of not guilty, heretofore entered in the
case of the State of Maryland against him the said James
Chaney alias James W. Chaney, now pending in Anne
Arundel county court, on removal from Baltimore city
court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, by the authority afore-
said, That after the withdrawal of the plea of not guilty
aforesaid, it shall and may be lawful for the said James
Chaney alias James W. Chaney, and he is hereby authori-
sed to enter the said case of the State of Maryland against

him, the plea of autrefois convict; provided, that the said
plea of autrefois convict shall have no other or further ef-
fect than it would have had if interposed in said case, be-
fore the plea of not guilty was therein entered.

An act to incorporate the Trustees of Powel's Run Academy,
in Baltimore County.

WHEREAS, a number of citizens of Baltimore county,
have built a school House and organized a public school,
and elected the following persons as trustees, viz: William
Chapman, William Tite, Walter J. Odell, Spotwood Chil-
ders and George E. Odell, and have prayed for an act of
incorporation—therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said trustees and their successors, shall
be and they are hereby established and declared to be one
