CHAP. 50.
Name and
title.
|
community, corporation, or body politic, with succession it
fact and in law, to all purposes connected with the said in-
stitution, and shall beat the name and style of the Trustees
of Powel's Run Academy, and by that name may have and
use a common seal, sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded
in any court of law or equity, and shall have power to take,

receive and hold property, real, personal and mixed, which
they may acquire by purchase, bequest or devise; provided,
they shall at no time hold property real, personal or mixed,
over and above the value of two thousand dollars.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said trustees shall
have power to pass such by-laws, for the regulation of said
academy, as they may think expedient; provided, the same
be not inconsistent with the laws of this State or the United
States.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act of incorporation
shall inure for thirty years from its passage; and that the
legislature reserves to itself the right to alter or annul this
act of incorporation at pleasure.

Sec 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act, be
construed so as to authorize the said corporation to issue
any note, token, device, scrip or other evidence of debt, to
be used as currency.

An act supplemental to an act entitled, an act to incorporate
a company to make a Turnpike Road from some point on
the National Road, west of Cumberland, to intersect the
Northwestern Turnpike Road of Virginia, at some point
in Allegany County.

|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the time limited by the act, passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-six, chapter seventy-four, to which
this act is a supplement, be, and all the provisions thereof, are
hereby extended and re-enacted, and shall continue and re-
