and six hundred and eighty-seven are slaves, making in fed-
eral numbers ten thousand six hundred and twenty-one; that
Queen Anne's county has a population of twelve thousand
six hundred and thirty-three souls, of which three thousand
nine hundred and sixty are slaves, making in federal num-
bers eleven thousand and forty-nine; that Somerset county
has a population of Nineteen thousand five hundred and eight
souls, of which five thousand three hundred and seventy-
seven are slaves, making in federal numbers seventeen
thousand three hundred and fifty-seven; that Dorchester
county has a population of eighteen thousand eight hundred
and forty-three souls, of which four thousand two hundred
and twenty-seven are slaves, making in federal numbers
seventeen thousand one hundred and fifty-two; that Worces-
ter county has a population of eighteen thousand three
hundred and seventy-seven souls, of which three thousand
five hundred and thirty-nine are slaves, making in federal
numbers sixteen thousand nine hundred and sixty-one; and
whereas, it is expedient in order to avoid doubts and difficul-
ties in the next elections, to declare at this time what is the
apportionment of delegates to each county and city under
the amended constitution—therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That at
the next election of delegates to the Legislature of Mary-
land, the several counties and cities of this State will be
respectively entitled to elect the number of delegates as
hereinafter mentioned, that is to say. Saint Mary's, Charles,
Calvert, Kent, Caroline, Talbot and Queen Anne's counties,
will be entitled to elect three delegates each; Allegany,
Carroll, Harford, Montgomery, Prince George's, Cecil,
Somerset, Dorchester and Worcester counties, will be en-
titled to elect four delegates each; Washington, Frederick,
Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties, and the city of Bal-
timore, will be entitled to elect five delegates each, and the
city of Annapolis, will be entitled to no delegate, but the said
city of Annapolis will be included in, and taken as part of
Anne Arundel county, and vote in the election of delegates
from said county.
