Resolution in favor of Asaph Colegate.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the treasurer of the western shore of Maryland, be and he
is hereby authorized to pay. to Asaph Colegate, a soldier of
the Revolution, the half pay of a private from and after this
date.

Resolution in relation to the Census.
Whereas, It appears by the census of the United States,
taken in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred
and forty, in pursuance of the act of Congress, passed at
the session of eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter
eighty, entitled, an act to provide For taking the sixth census
or enumeration of the. inhabitants of the United States, and
the act passed at the first session of the twenty-seventh
congress, chapter fifteen, entitled, an act to amend the act
entitled, an act to provide for taking the sixth census or enu-
meration of the inhabitants of the United States, approved
March the third, one thousand, eight hundred and thirty-
nine, and the act amending the same, and by the official pro-
mulgation of said census pursuant to the acts aforesaid, and
the resolution of the first session of the twenty-seventh con-
gress, being resolution number four of said last mentioned
session; that Allegany county has a population of fifteen
thousand, six hundred and ninety souls, of which eight hun-
dred and twelve are slaves, making in federal numbers fif-
teen thousand, three hundred and sixty-five; that Washing-
ton county has a population of twenty-eight thousand, eight
hundred and fifty souls, of which two thousand, five hundred
and forty-six are slaves, making in federal numbers twenty-
seven thousand, eight hundred and thirty-one; that Frederick
county has a population of thirty-six thousand, four hundred
and five souls, of which four thousand, four hundred and
forty-five are slaves, making in federal numbers thirty-four
thousand, six hundred and twenty-seven; that Carroll coun-
ty has a population of seventeen thousand, two hundred and
forty-one souls, of which eleven hundred and twenty-two are
slaves, making in federal numbers sixteen thousand, seven
hundred and ninety-one; that Baltimore city has a popula-
