the said election, and that notice shall be given of the elec-
tion of the officers, by one advertisement in said papers.
Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That if the said president and
managers shall refuse or neglect to publish statements, ac-
cording to the provisions of this act, they shall each forfeit
and pay the sum of fifty dollars, to be recovered before a
single justice of the peace, one half for the use of the in-
Cornier, and the other to be paid into the county treasury;

provided however, that if it shall appear that said neglect
was not occasioned by the president or either of the mana-
gers, he or they appearing not to be in default, shall be ex-
empt from said fine.

Proviso.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That if the secretary shall
refuse to make said statement and verify the same as afore-
said, he shall be fined the sum of one hundred dollars, to
be recovered before a single justice as aforesaid, one half
lor the use of the informer, and the other half to be paid
into the county treasury.

CHAPTER 29.

 

A supplement to an act for clearing out Pocomoke River, in
Worcester County, passed at December session eighteen
hundred and forty, chapter two hundred and fifteen.

Passed Jan
25, 1842.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners appointed by the act to which this
is a supplement, be and they are hereby authorized to cut,
clear and carry away, or dispose of as they may see pro-
per, all timber that may be in the way in prosecuting the
work therein contemplated, and to apply the same, or the
profits thereof, to defraying the expenses of clearing out
said river.

CHAPTER 30.

 

An act for the preservation of Wild Fowl, Oysters and
Terrapins in the waters of Synnapuxent Bay, in Wor-
cester County.

25, 1812.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall not be
lawful for any person residing out of the limits of this State,
to shoot at wild fowl, or in any manner take or carry away
