CHAPTER 230.

 

An act to authorize the continuance of certain Streets in the
Town of Havre de Grace, to the Susquehanna River, and
to the basin of the Tide-water Canal.

7, 1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of the town of Havre
de Grace, in this State, shall have full power and authority
to lay out and continue to the Susquehanna river, and the
basin of the Tide-water Canal, the streets designated on the
plot of said town as Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Van Bu-

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners afore-
said shall have full power to determine, and they are enjoin-
ed so to do, what was high water mark before the construc-
tion of the said basin of the Tide-water Canal, and the said
commissioners shall have full authority to build and erect
wharves at the ends of any streets in said town and to
charge reasonable wharfage for vessels lying at the same;

provided, that this act shall not authorize said commission-
ers to extend any street, or build any wharf to the prejudice
or injury of any individual without making compensation
for such injury; and provided also, that when any one is ag-
grieved by the decision of said commissioners in fixing the
line or point of high water mark, such person may appeal
at any time within one year to the county court, and have
said decision received and corrected by said court, and the
said court may hear testimony in such appeal.

CHAPTER 231.

 

An act to incorporate a company for making Town Creek,
lying in Allegany County in the State of Maryland, a
navigable stream, by the aid of Locks and Dams, and to
connect the same with the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.
