One dollar for
outage.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the purchaser or own-
er of each hogshead of Tobacco inspected at any of said
warehouses, shall pay to the inspector thereof before re-
moving the same, the sum of one dollar for outage, portage

and sealing, to be accounted for as hereinafter directed.
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That each of the said inspec-
tors shall be allowed fifty cents for every hogshead of To-
bacco he may inspect; provided however, that no one of them
shall receive more than five hundred dollars in any one year,
and the balance of the receipt after deducting the inspectors
compensation, and all necessary expences for inspecting,
shall be paid to the levy court of said county, and by them
set apart as the tobacco inspection fund, and the same is
hereby made applicable to repairing and keeping up the
warehouse, to improving, deepening and cleaning out the
rivers and creeks, and to the erection and keeping up of
public wharfs, for the more ready and certain shipping of
tobacco from said warehouses, and all such expenditures
shall be made by order of the said levy court, and in such
manner as said court may direct, and they may appoint a

commissioner to execute their orders under this section.
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That if any vacancy shall
occur, or any person appointed inspector shall fail to give
bond as required by this act, within thirty days, the said
court shall proceed to make a new appointment.
Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That in any settlement which
the treasurer may make with the inspector, as now provid-
ed by law, he shall retain for the State treasury any and all
sums that may have been paid by the State, for the use of
the said warehouse or any account of inspections under the
act of eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, chapter two hun-
dred and forty-five, and in any such settlement the inspec-
tors who may be prepared to settle in full with the treasu-
ry, shall be authorized to retain the full amount of their
salary, and those who may not settle in full shall be paid
rateably according to the amount paid into the treasury, by
them respectively, and the treasurer is authorized to pay
out of the tobacco inspection fund of said county, under
the said act any averages of salary and expences that may
be due to the inspectors, and if any thing be due them after
exhausting said fund it shall be paid by the levy court out
of the fund authorized by this act, on a statement of their
accounts with the State treasurer under his hand.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the said inspectors shall
annually on or before the first day of January, make a re-
port to the said levy court of the number of hogsheads of
tobacco inspected, the number shipped and the number on
