CHAP. 215.
Sheriff ineli-
gible for four
years
|
Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the term of office for
sheriffs hereafter elected, shall be for four grades, the same
person after having served four years shall be ineligible for
the four years next succeeding.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the constitutional pro-
visions relating to the annual election of delegates and meet-
ing of the General Assembly, shall remain in force till the
first election is held under this act, and after this act goes
into operation the officers shall be appointed biennial instead
of annual, in the same manner as is now provided for.

No increase
of salary
|
Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the salary of the go-
vernor shall neither be increased nor diminished during the
time for which he shall have been elected.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That if this act shall be con-
firmed by the General Assembly after a new election of
delegates, in the first session after such new election, agree-
ably to the provisions of the constitution and for of govern-
ment, then and in such case this act and the alterations and
amendments of the constitution therein contained shall be
taken and considered, and shall constitute and be valid as a
part of said constitution and form of government, any thing
in the said constitution and form of government to the con-
trary notwithstanding.

And whereas, it is to be desired that the next legislature
may know whether so important an alteration in the con-
stitution and form of government of this State as is contem-
plated by this act is in accordance with the will of the peo-
ple—therefore,

Judges to
enquire of
voters if they
are for or
against it
|
Sec. 9. Be it enacted, That at the next annual election
for delegates to the General Assembly of Maryland, the
judges of the elections of the several cities and counties of
this State, shall enquire of each other, as he may come to
cast his ballot, whether he is for or against the provisions
of this bill, and shall record his vote accordingly, and shall
make a return of the respective number of votes cast for or
against the same, to the next General Assembly of Mary-
land.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That so much of the fourth section of the act
of December session, one thousand eight hundred and thir-
