CHAPTER 201.

5, 1842.

An act for the benefit of the Administrator of Thomas H.
Edelen, late Sheriff of Prince George's County, deceased.

Complete col-
lections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
William H. Tuck, administrator of Thomas H. Edelen,
late sheriff of Prince George's county, deceased, and such per-
sons as he may appoint, he and they are hereby authorized and
empowered to complete the collection of all lees, and to
close the other official business of the said sheriff, in his
hands at the time of his death; and that he or they shall be
authorized to use for such purpose, the same process which
could have been used by the said sheriff in his lifetime; and
this act is hereby declared to take effect from and imme-
diately after its passage, to continue in force until the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and forty-three.

 

CHAPTER 202.

4. 1842.

An act supplementary to an act, passed at December Session
eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, chapter three hundred
and sixty-two, entitled, an act appointing and regulating
Primary Schools in Saint Mary's County.

Appoint trus-
ted.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, it
shall be the duly of the voters of the different school dis-
tricts, who may have children to send to the school of his
district, to assemble at the school house, on the first Satur-
day of December next, or as soon thereafter as may be, and
on every successive first Saturday thereafter, from year to
year, and appoint five trustees to serve for one year.

Subscriptions
to be taken

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the trustees so appoint-
ed shall cause subscriptions to be taken, and the amount
thereof added to such proportion of the general school
fund us shall be paid to them by the commissioners, as may
make a sum sufficient to open the school for twelve months,
and not for six months as at present; and that the said trus-
tess, in other respects, shall be governed by, and amenable
to the laws now in force, regulating and governing trustees
to primary schools in Saint Mary's county.

Notice to be
given

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
the tax shall cause an advertisement of this election to be
set up in each school district, at least ten days before the
day of election.
