An act to abolish certain offices on ike Eastern Shore of this
State
|

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That so much of the constitution of this state,
as provides for the appointment of a treasurer of the eas-
tern shore, and register of the land-office of the eastern
shore of Maryland, be and the same is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the several officers on
the eastern shore of this state, who are authorized and di-
rected, under existing laws to make payment and settle-
ment of their respective accounts with the treasurer of the
eastern shore, he and they are hereby directed, from and
after the confirmation of this act, by the next legislature of
this state, to make their payment and settlements, with the
treasurer of the western shore who is hereby required to
perform all and singular the duties that are now performed
by the treasurer of the eastern shore of this state.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That- the duties which are
now performed by register of the land office of the eastern
shore, shall from and after the confirmation of this act by
the next legislature, devolve on, and be performed by, the
register of the land office of the western shore, and the
said register of the land office of the western shore, shall
be entitled to and receive the same office fees For said ser-
vice, which the register of the land office of the eastern
3hore is now entitled to receive.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That all laws or resolutions,
Fixing or allowing a compensation or salary to the said trea-
surer For the eastern shore, and the register of the land
office of the eastern shore, or which may be in anywise in-
consistent with the provisions of this act, be and the same
are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That no part of the salaries
now paid to the said officers on the eastern shore, shall be
hereafter given to the officers on the western shore who are
charged with additional duties in consequence of the abo-
lishment of said officers, nor shall their salaries in any man-
ner be increased—therefore,

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That if this act shall be con-
curred in and approved of by the next general assembly of
this state, the same shall be deemed and taken as a part of
the constitution and form of government of this state, any
thing to the contrary notwithstanding.
