or construed to change the manner of taking out licenses as
prescribed in the said original act, or to remove or dispense
with any of the penalties imposed by said act.

CHAP. 187.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the twenty first and
twenty second sections of the act to which this is a supple-
ment, be and the same are hereby repealed, and that the
revenue arising from duties on said auction sales, be receiv-
ed into the treasury and disbursed, as any other revenues
not specifically appropriated.

CHAPTER 187.

 

An act to establish Primary Schools in the Upper Election
District of Caroline County.

4, 1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by lite General Assembly of
Maryland, That on the first Tuesday of December next,
and annually thereafter, the taxable inhabitants of the sever-
al school districts of the upper election district of Caroline
county, shall meet at the school houses in their respective
school districts, at which time a majority of the taxable in-
habitants there assembled, shall elect five trustees for their
respective schools, whose term of service shall be one year,
and until the election of their successors, and at whose
meetings a majority shall constitute a quorum for the transac-
tion of business.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the trustees of the several schools so elected, to appoint a
treasurer for their respective school districts, who shall

give bond to the State of Maryland, to be approved by the
trustees of their respective schools, which bond shall be
deposited For safe keeping in the office of the register of
wills For Caroline county, where the orphans court shall
pay or cause to be paid to the order of the said trustees re-
spectively, their just proportion of any uninvested school
funds which may appear to be due to the upper election
district of said county, and said trustees shall be authorized
to invest said funds as they may think best, and the interest
of said fund shall be annually applied by said trustees to the
