Resolution in favor of Leonard Shercliff, of Allegany
County.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Treasurer of the Western Shore pay over to Leonard
Shercliff, Esq. of Allegany county, thirty-six dollars and
forty-five cents, arrears of pension due his mother, Malin-
da Shercliff, to the twenty-second day of March, eighteen
hundred and forty, on which day she died.

Resolution in favor of the Clerks of the present General
Assembly.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to George G.
Brewer, chief clerk, and Eli Duvall, assistant clerk of the
House of Delegates; and Joseph H. Nicholson, chief
clerk, and John N. Watkins, assistant clerk of the Senates,
each one hundred dollars, in addition to their per diem allow-
ance, in consideration of the fidelity with which they have
discharged their duties during the present session; and to
Woolman J. Gibson, William E. Nicholson, Alexander A.
Stambaugh, William Hall, John W. Rider, each fifty dol-
lars; and also to Samuel W. Spencer and James C. Reyner,
of the Senate, each fifty dollars.

Resolution in favor of David Ridgely.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the trustees of the primary schools and academies which
are endowed by the State, shall introduce into use a work
which David Ridgely is about to publish, to be entitled a
history of the early settlement, the geography, geology,
&c. of the State of Maryland, for the use of public schools,
after the same shall be revised and approved by Hector
Humphreys, John J. Graves and Francis Davidge; pro-
