CHAP. 233.
Levy authorised
to indemnify.
|
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the commission-
ers of Harford county are hereby authorised and required
to levy on the assessable property of said county, and cause
to be collected, if they in their judgment think proper, a
sufficient sum of money to indemnify the said Stump and
Jackson, in conformity with the return made by the bridge
commissioners.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the commission-
ers of Harford county are hereby authorised and required
to levy, in addition to what has been already levied, a suffi-
cient sum of money to raise the present abutments of said
bridge five feet higher.

An act, entitled an act to provide for the Inspection of
Staves and Heading in Port Deposit Town, in Cecil
County.

Oath of office.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate, shall annually appoint an in-
spector of staves and heading for the town of Port Deposit,
in Cecil county; and the inspector, before he shall enter up-
on the duties of his office, shall make oath or affirmation
before some justice of the peace, that he will discharge his
duty as inspector of staves and heading, without partiality
or favor, to the best of his skill and knowledge.

Inspection and
fees regulated.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the rules and regulations
for the inspection of staves and heading in the town of Port
Deposit, shall in all respects conform to the ordinances of the
city of Baltimore lor the inspection of staves and heading,
so far as regards the size and quality of such staves and
heading, and the fees to be paid for inspecting the same.

Not to purchase
staves, &c.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if the inspector to be
appointed under tins act, shall purchase any staves or head-
ing, except such as he may require for his own use, he
shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty dollars for each and
every offence; one half to the informer, and the other half
to the commissioners of said town, to be collected as all
other fines are now collected.
