CHAP. 234.

If collector re-
ceive excess of
money.

SEC. 8, And be it enacted, That if from the sale of any
tract, lot or parcel of land, according to the provisions of
this act, the collector shall receive more money than may
be sufficient to satisfy the taxes and legal charges due
thereon, he shall pay on demand the balance of the money,
after deducting the taxes and legal charges, to the owner
or owners of such tract, lot or parcel of land, or to his, her
or their heirs, executors, administrators or assigns; and his
failure so to do shall be construed as a breach of the condi-
tion of his collector's bond, and suit may at any time be
brought thereupon to enforce the payment of such balance
with interest.

If original own-

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That in all cases of sales made
of any lands under this act, if the original owner or owners
thereof, his, her or their heirs, legal representatives or assigns,
shall, within two years from the date of such sale, pay to
the purchaser or purchasers thereof, his, her or their heirs
or assigns, the purchase money and all other legal charges,
with an interest of twelve per centum per annum on the

heirs or assigns, shall reconvey to the original owner or
owners, his, her or their heirs or assigns, the lands so pur-
chased and sought to be redeemed; and from the time of
such payment, or tender of payment, the purchaser or pur-
chasers of the land shall be divested of all title in the same
acquired by the aforesaid sale, and such title shall be immedi-
ately reinvested in the original owner or owners of the land,
notwithstanding no reconveyance shall be executed as
herein directed.

In case of any
disability of the
owner, &c.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That if the owner or owners
of any lands sold under this act, shall at the time of sale be
under the impediment of coverture, infancy, insanity of
mind, actual imprisonment, or be residing beyond the limits
of the United States, he, she or they shall have until within
one year after the disability or disabilities are removed, to
redeem such land or lands by paying or tendering to the
purchaser or purchasers thereof, his, her or their heirs
or assigns, the purchase money and all legal costs, toge-
ther with an interest of six per cent per annum on the
amount, and also the value of all improvements made
on such land or lands since the day of sale; and upon the
payment of the same or tendering payment thereof, the pur-
chaser or purchasers of his, her or their heirs or assigns,
shall immediately reconvey all such land or lands to the
original owner or owners thereof, his, her or their heirs or
assigns.
