CHAPTER 417
(House Bill 697)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1
of Chapter 32 of the Acts of 1947 (Extraordinary Session),
relating to license fees for coin-operated machines in the
town of Leonardtown in St. Mary's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1 of Chapter 32 of the Acts of 1947 (Ex-
traordinary Session) be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

1. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County are
hereby authorized and empowered to designate, by Resolu-
tion, the type of coin-operated machines upon which the
said gross receipts tax has been imposed by Resolution
of said County Commissioners, or which may hereafter
be imposed under the provisions of Chapter 601 of 1947, or
any license fee authorized by this Act shall be imposed and
the type of machine or machines so designated by said
County Commissioners shall be legal and lawful in said
County, any other law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Except for such machines in the corporate limits of
Leonardtown, the said County Commissioners are hereby
authorized to impose, by Resolution, an annual license fee
of not more than Fifty Dollars ($50. 00) for each machine so
designated, in addition to the said gross receipts tax. For
all such machines within the corporate limits of Leonard-
town, such license fee may be imposed by the Commissioners
of Leonardtown, by ordinance, and used for the general pur-
poses of said town.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
