930 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 385

Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot
County", sub-title "Oxford", as amended by Chapter 369 of
the Acts of 1937, be and it is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it -further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 385
(House Bill 502)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2
of Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County", sub-title "Alms-
house", as amended by Chapter 324 of the Acts of 1941,
relating to the power of the County Commissioners to sell
and lease almshouse property.

WHEREAS, it has been the intention of the Legislature to
permit the sale or lease of almshouse property by the County
Commissioners of St. Mary's County for any purpose not in-
consistent with the proper maintenance of the almshouse; and

WHEREAS,, the County Commissioners of St. Mary's County
have in the past made sales and leases of almshouse property;
and

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Legislature
that doubts have been expressed concerning the power of the
County Commissioners of St. Mary's County to make such
sales and leases; now therefore

SECTION^!. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2 of Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's
County", sub-title "Almshouse", as amended by Chapter 324
of the Acts of 1941, be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2. The County Commissioners may annually at their first
regular meeting in June, or as soon thereafter as practicable,
let said Almshouse to such person as they may deem fit,
and the said Commissioners may, in their discretion, pro-
vide for the maintenance and support of such paupers as
