way in Anne Arundel County. Any person convicted of a
violation of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than Ten
Dollars ($10. 00), nor more than One Hundred Dollars
(f 100. 00).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1? 1949.

CHAPTER 377
(House Bill 477)

AN ACT to add a new section to the Code of Montgomery
County (1947 Edition—being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Montgomery Coun-
ty7', said new section to be under the sub-title "Rockville",
to be known as Section 1003A and to follow immediately
after Section 1003 thereof, authorizing the Mayor and Coun-
cil of Rockville to collect a service charge or fee for making
collections of garbage, trash, ashes and debris.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to the
Code of Montgomery County (1947 Edition—being Article 16
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Mont-
gomery County", said new section to be under the sub-title
"Rockville", to be known as Section 1103A and to follow
immediately after Section 1003 thereof and to read as follows:

1003A. The Mayor and Council is authorized and empow-
ered to levy and collect a service charge or fee for collections
of garbage, trash, ashes and debris within the corporate
limits of the town. Any such charge or fee may be in addition
to and exclusive of the maximum tax levy provided for in
Sections 1002 and 1004 of this sub-title. The said charge or
fee shall be fixed at a uniform amount for each separate house-
hold, and in the case of commercial or industrial establish-
ments the Mayor and Council may fix the said charge or fee
according to a reasonable classification thereof. Any such
fee or charge shall be levied and collected at intervals to be
set by the Ma}^or and Council, and except as otherwise pro-
vided in this section shall be levied and collected in all
respects as the regular tax funds of the Mayor and Council
