next regular meeting after such suspension; he shall submit
to the Council, from time to time, such recommendations as,
in his judgment, will advance the general interests of the
city; he shall preside at all meetings of the Council and
shall call such special meetings as he may deem necessary;
he shall administer the oath of office to the members of the
Council and to the officers of the city.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 375
(House Bill 472)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
2D of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "County Commissioners", sub-title "Gen-
eral Provisions", as said section was enacted by Chapter 38
of the Acts of the Special Session of 1948, clarifying the
provisions of said section.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2D of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "County Commissioners",
sub-title "General Provisions", as said section was enacted by
Chapter 38 of the Acts of the Special Session of 1948, be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

2D. The County Commissioners of each county in the State
shall have the power by resolution or ordinance to adopt,
and to amend from time to time, a Fire Prevention Code, to
provide for protection against fires and the removal of fire
hazards, to provide for the appointment of inspectors for the
enforcement thereof and to provide penalties for the violation
of any Fire Prevention Code or any ordinance, resolution or
regulation for the prevention of fires or the removal of fire
hazards. Said Fire Prevention Code may incorporate by
reference any code or part thereof prepared b}r any govern-
mental agency or any trade or professional association for
general distribution in printed form as a standard or model
on any subject relating to fire prevention, fire hazards or
flammable or dangerous substances, provided that subsequent
