without any cost to the County and |600 annually for the
operation of the said automobile. He may appoint such depu-
ties and assistants as he may deem necessary and at such
compensation as he shall fix but the compensation of all such
deputies and assistants shall not exceed $4, 700. He may also
appoint a stenographer at an annual salary of $1, 500.

SEC. 2. And fee it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 362

(House Bill 419)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
128 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title
"Clearspring", eliminating obsolete provisions relating to
assessment of property in the Town of Clearspring.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted "by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 128 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Clearspring", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

128. No land included within the corporate limits or cor-
porate outlines of said town, except houses, building lots and
gardens shall be taxed for corporate purposes, so long as said
land shall be used for agricultural purposes; and the Commis-
sioners may levy a tax on the assessable property within the
corporate limits of said town, not exceeding in any one year
fifty cents on the one hundred dollars worth of assessable
property.

SEC. 2. And be> it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
