CHAPTER 64
(Senate Bill 105)
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of
Howard County to acquire a parcel of land in said
Howard County, at or near Ellicott City, and to expend
a sum not exceeding Four Thousand Dollars ($4, 000. 00)
and incidental expenses toward the purchase thereof,
said parcel of land to be used for the erection of a State
Armory thereon by the State Military Department, in
pursuance of the provisions of Chapter 4 of the Extra-
ordinary Session of the year 1948.
WHEREAS, Chapter 4 of the Acts of the Extraordinary
Session of the General Assembly of Maryland of the year
1948 provided for, among other things, the erection of an
armory at Ellicott City and other places in the State of
Maryland, and the creation of a loan to be known as the
"Armory Loan of 1948"; and
WHEREAS, the County Commissioners of Howard County
have been requested by the State Military Department to
provide a site for the said Armory to be located at Ellicott
City, in said County, and have secured an option for the
purchase of a parcel of land, the location of which has been
approved by the said State Military Department; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Howard County be and
they are hereby authorized to purchase a parcel of land at
or near Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland, and to
expend the sum not exceeding Four Thousand Dollars
($4, 000. 00) and incidental expenses toward the purchase
thereof, said parcel to be used by the State Military Depart-
ment for the erection of an Armory thereon under and by
virtue of the provisions of Chapter 4 of the Acts of the
Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of the year 1948.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed upon by a yea and nay vote, sup-
ported by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each
of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
