AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
20 of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualifica-
tion and Selection of Jurors", and to repeal Section 382
of the Anne Arundel County Code (1947 Edition), being
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Anne Arundel County', sub-title "Jurors", relating
to the compensation of jurors in Anne Arundel County
and in Carroll County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 20 of Article, 51 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title -"Jurors", sub-title
"Qualification and Selection of Jurors", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
20. Jurors in Anne Arundel County shall receive Six
Dollars per day and in all other Counties, Five Dollars per
day for each and every day they shall attend the several
courts of this State as jurors and Fifteen Cents for each
mile over five miles for going to and returning from the
court, once in each term, to be paid by the Counties, respec-
tively, in which courts are held. Jurors in Baltimore City
shall receive such compensation as shall be provided in the
Ordinance of Estimates of said City each year.
It shall be the duty of the County Commissioners of the
several Counties and of the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore to levy each year a sufficient sum to pay for the
compensation of jurors, as provided by this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 382 of
the Anne Arundel County Code (1947 Edition), being
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Jurors", be and it
is hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted*, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.
