or deposit made as aforesaid, the provisions of law in
reference to bail in cases of misdemeanor shall apply.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 243
(Senate Bill 293)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 407 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County, "
sub-title "Taneytown, " as said section was amended by
Chapter 188 of the Acts of 1931, relating to the annual
election date in Taneytown.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 407 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County, "
sub-title "Taneytown, " as said section was amended by
Chapter 188 of the Acts of 1931, be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:

407. All persons who have resided within the said cor-
porate limits of the Town of Taneytown for twelve months
next preceding the election, and who are qualified to vote
for delegates to the General Assembly of Maryland, and
all other persons non-resident of said corporation, but who
may be otherwise so qualified, and who own real or per-
sonal estate in said town to the value of at least five hun-
dred dollars, shall, on the first Monday of June, 1950, and
on the first Monday of June of every second year there-
after, elect one person to be Mayor of Taneytown, who
shall be at least twenty-five years of age and shall have
resided in said town at least one year previous to the day
of his election, and be vthe owner of real or personal prop-
erty in his own right in said town, assessed at at least six
hundred dollars. The Mayor of Taneytown shall serve for
a term of two years from the date of election and until his
successor shall be duly elected and qualified. And all such
electors possessing the qualifications as aforesaid, shall
elect five persons who possess the same qualifications as
the Mayor to serve as members of the City Council of
