upon cash or other property owned by him, and upon his
conforming otherwise to the provisions of said Section 42
and said Section 13 of Article 52.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 241

(Senate Bill 287)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 182 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County, " sub-
title "Fire Departments, " as said section was amended
by Chapter 548 of the Acts of 1947, providing for the
payment of certain amounts to be paid to the Volunteer
Fire Department of Gorman in said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 182 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930. Edition), title "Garrett County, "
sub-title "Fire Departments, " as said section was amended
by Chapter 548 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:

182. The County Commissioners of Garrett County are
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum
of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1, 200. 00) annually to the
Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, the sum of One Thou-
sand Dollars ($1, 000. 00) annually to the Grantsville Volun-
teer Fire Department, and the sum of Seven Hundred Dol-
lars ($700. 00) annually each to the Friendsville Volunteer
Fire Department, the Gorman Volunteer Fire Department,
the Kitzmiller Volunteer Fire Department, the Accident
Volunteer Fire Department and the Bloomington Volun-
teer Fire Department, so long as each of said fire depart-
ments remains an active fire fighting organization, for
their benefit, said sums of money to be used by the said
fire departments for the purchase, repair or maintenance
of fire fighting equipment.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.
