"Free Scholarships", and under the sub-heading "How
Awarded", and to read as follows:

254A. (a) Nothing herein contained shall in any way
impair or affect the control by any said university or
school of its operation or of any of the studies pursued
therein, or impair or in any way affect the power to fix
the standards of scholarship required for admission to the
university or school or for the continued prosecution of
studies therein, or the examination or other method of
ascertaining or determining such fitness in scholarship
or otherwise, or the power to maintain, prescribe and
enforce the discipline, rules and regulations of the univer-
sity or school.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 229
(Senate Bill 240)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
148D of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages, " sub-
title "Dorchester County Dispensary, " providing for
the allocation of Dispensary profits to the Cambridge,
Maryland, Hospital, Inc.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 148D of Article 2B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Bever-
ages, " sub-title "Dorchester County Dispensary, " be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

148D. (a) All net profits arising from the operation
of said dispensary shall be first applied towards the pay-
ment of any and all sums advanced to or borrowed by the
Liquor Control Board. After such sums have been paid,
the said Board shall be authorized to create and maintain
a reserve fund not to exceed $25?000, including the total
inventory of stock and supplies on hand, to provide ade-
quate working capital and to meet any loss that may be
sustained by the Board in the operation of said dispensary.
