title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Operation of Vehicles Upon
Highways", said new section to be known as Section 141B,
to follow immediately after Section 141A of said Article, and
to read as follows:

141B. (Motor Scooters. ) No motor scooter or bicycle with
motor attachments shall be operated on any public street or
road in this State while carrying more than one person, unless
an extra seat has been so constructed on such a vehicle as
to properly and safely accommodate the seating of not more
than one extra person.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 37

(Senate Bill 35)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 52
of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administra-
tion—Registration—Titling", relating to reciprocity agree-
ments covering the registration of motor vehicles owned and
registered outside the State of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 52 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-
title "Administration—Registration — Titling", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

52. (Exemption of Non-Resident Operators Not Applicable
in Following Cases. ) (a) The foregoing exemption of non-
residents shall not apply to operators of motor vehicles or
motor cycles who are residents of states which do not require
the display of identification markers on the same, nor shall
it apply to non-residents of this State who have temporary
residences in this State for periods in excess of three months
in any year,, or to non-residents, engaged in the business of
transporting persons or property for hire, wholly or partly
upon or over the public highways of this State, over fixed
routes, or between fixed termini.
